Christian Patteson was raised in Hawks Nest, sandwiched between the Myall lakes and Port Stephens, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, Australia. Nicknamed Stormboy after the classic Australian movie of the same name, Christian always had a passion for his home area’s incredible geographic diversity. This started with a deep interest in ornithology in an area which has the same bird species diversity as Australia's world famous Kakadu National park. This interest later expanded to most aspects of Natural History and during his youth, Christian gained immense local knowledge.
After returning home from years of world travel , Christian was astounded more than ever of the amazing natural beauty of the area in which he was raised. With new mostly self-taught photography skills , he now began to capture the very moods that inspired him when he was younger. Despite this , talking of his work Christian says “Capturing the moods of nature is easy . The beauty is always there . One has to just open ones eyes , the camera is merely the capturing tool.” Also, none of the images are digitally manipulated, "What you see is what I saw at the moment."
In 2002 , Christian was commissioned to write the Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Visitors Guide. This 112 page user-friendly guide book is the first of its kind for the Myall Lakes / North Port Stephens area .
Christian also has an Australia and overseas collection , and photographs weddings . In weddings and portraits he specialises in “capturing that special moment that may never return.” Once again he says "these moments happen a lot, the camera is the tool to record them."
Naturally Amazing is also a tour company. Christian shows off the lakes , islands , river , headlands , port , dunes, beaches and wildlife to nature lovers . His tours change to fit with the vibrant and changing moods of nature and many of the photos in this gallery were actually taken on tour. "Welcome." |
